Li Yugang: Put on ethnic minority costumes and enjoy colorful Guizhou in the song of “Wanjiang”

Guizhou is a beautiful land. The white flower petals of dove trees are like a pair of wings unfolding in the breeze. Strings of silver bells attached on ethnic minority costumes jingle harmoniously. The Zunyi Conference site stands solemnly telling the red history. Li Yugang, a Chinese singer, travelled over mountains and rivers, singing his song to extol the great land and pass on the one hundred-year “red” revolutionary spirit.

“How blessed I am to be born in your arms to continue the bloodline,” Li Yugang sang the song "Wanjiang" in Guizhou. In order to shoot the Guizhou part of “Wanjiang” MV, Li climbed to the peak of Wanfenglin, and was awed by the magical natural scenery. He visited the Zunyi Conference site, learning the past difficult times. He made batik cloth himself, feeling the beauty passed down for thousands of years. He also sang and danced with the Buyei people outside the stilt houses.

“The sound of bamboo drums and dance still lingers in my mind. The dance by Chinese ethnic minorities go well with natural environment. Bamboo drum dancers make drums with bamboo.” Li praised. Marveled at the beauty of the mountains, people and intangible cultural heritages in Guizhou, Li had a feeling: “I come here and feel that this is my hometown. I hope it can enjoy better development! I’d like to promote it.”

In filming the Guizhou part of the MV, Li Yugang specifically said “I must stand with local ethnic minorities rather than stand out.” He put on ethnic costumes and sang “Wanjiang” with local residents. He also livestreamed the bonfire party of the ethnic minorities in Guizhou for netizens on Douyin (the Chinese version of Tik Tok) and learned local folk songs from villagers.

The beautiful scenery of Guizhou including Huangguoshu Waterfall in Anshun, Zunyi Conference Site, Jiabang Terrace, Zhenyuan Ancient Town, Hepingba Cherry Blossom Field, Longli County and Wumeng Prairie are filmed in “Wanjiang” MV, through which people from all over China can follow Li Yugang’ s footsteps to see the green land .

“I took ‘Wanjiang’ to Guizhou. Here I saw clear waters and green hills. I experienced colorful and charming intangible cultural heritages. I also felt the hospitality, happiness, and kindness of Guizhou people,” said Li Yugang.

Li felt glad at his Guizhou tour. What made the tour more unforgettable was that many ethnic minority compatriots came to bid him farewell when Li was about to leave Xingyi city. “The moment the kids said goodbye to me, I was about to shed tears. These kids’ eyes were full of sincerity. People in the place do not enjoy material wealth, but they are spiritually rich. I was a little reluctant to leave. Guizhou people were really hospitable and sincere! I wish Guizhou to make an increasingly better development from bottom of my heart. I believe that every visitor will gain a wonderful experience in colorful Guizhou!”
