The bridges on the plain are delicate and dainty, while most bridges in Guizhou spanning across mountains and canyons are magnificent. Above the Qingshui River, there is a majestic suspension bridge-The Qingshui Bridge. It is the largest single-span plate-truss and steel truss stiffened girder suspension bridge and the sixth highest bridge in the world.

With a main span of 1,130 meters, the bridge is built at 406 meters high. It is about 43 times as high as the height of the Forbidden City’s wall (9.27meters high). Starting in July 2013 and opened to traffic in December 2015, it set a world record for completing a suspension bridge of over one kilometer in 29 months.

Since it is impossible to build bridge piers at three to four hundred meters height or allow heavy lifting equipment to enter into this area, The technical team thought an idea that workers weld one upper steel plate deck and one lower supporting truss girder on the ground first, and then piece them together in sky. In transferring construction materials into mountains, each truck driver complained a lot and said they would never be back again before leaving. In the end, a total of 366 shipments involved 365 drivers. In building the bridge, many technical problems were overcome. For example, the combined structure of steel truss girder and plate-truss is applied to the building of suspension bridge in mountainous area for the first time.

The highways in Guizhou are connected by bridges. The Guiyang-Weng'an Expressway is one of them. Before, there was a long way to go from Weng’an to Guiyang, but now it only takes 3 minutes to cross the bridge and the 4 hours’ drive is cut to only 1 hour. The convenient expressway will effectively improve the transportation of Kaiyang County and Weng'an County, and thus enable them to integrate more quickly into the “1 hour economic circle” of the Qianzhong Economic Zone. It will enhance Guiyang’s leading role, benefit more places in Guizhou and has important strategic significance in promoting the coordinated and rapid development of the Qianzhong Economic Zone.

To provide a convenient place for people to appreciate the view, a park will be built at the bridgehead. By the plan, the park will include gates, ecological parking lots, hotels, outdoor sports areas, bonfire squares, children's playgrounds, flower fields, leisure and sightseeing squares, bridgehead viewing deck, plank roads, viewing platforms, tree-lined paths, pavilions and other spots.

Guizhou is known as “the only province without plains”, but the locals have made many miracles with their wisdom and diligence. Hua Chunying, China's assistant foreign minister, once posted Guizhou’s bridges on her Twitter account, saying “Guizhou is the only province in China without plain support. But its bridges have set dozens of world records. Therefore, Guizhou could be called a “Bridge Museum”.
